Extension of offer to Western Areas shareholders
Gold Fields announces that the closing date of the offer to acquire the entire
issued share capital of Western Areas Limited ("Western Areas") other than those
shares already owned by Gold Fields and JCI Limited) ("the offer") is hereby
extended to 12.00 (South African time) on Friday, 26 January 2007. Any changes
to this date and time, or the dates below, will be released on SENS and
published in the South African press.
Gold Fields announced on 14 December 2006 that it will not be increasing the
offer of 35 Gold Fields shares for every 100 Western Areas shares.
The revised dates and times of the Offer are set out below:
Last day for Western Areas shareholders to Friday 19 January 2007
trade in Western Areas shares on the JSE to be
eligible to participate in the offer
Western Areas shares acquired on the JSE Monday 22 January 2007
Limited ("JSE") on or after this date will not
be eligible to participate in the offer
Record date for participating in the offer Friday 26 January 2007
Closing date of the offer at 12:00 South Friday 26 January 2007

consideration shares issued under the offer (see note 1)
are listed on the JSE
Western Areas shareholders tendering their shares on 26 January 2007 will be
settled by no later than 2 February 2007. Shareholders tendering their shares
on any day before the closing date will be settled within 5 business days from
the date of tender.
Dematerialised Western Areas shareholders wishing to accept the offer are
required to notify their CSDP or broker, as the case may be, of their intention
to accept the offer in the manner and time stipulated in the custody agreement
entered into between such offer participant and their CSDP or broker.
certificated Western Areas shareholders wishing to accept the offer are required
to complete the form of acceptance, surrender and transfer included in the
circular containing the offer which was posted on 30 October 2006 in accordance
with the instructions therein to be received by no later than 12:00 on the
closing date.
No dematerialisation or rematerialisation of Gold Fields shares may take place
during the period commencing at the close of business on the last day for
Western Areas shareholders to trade in Gold Fields shares on the JSE and the
record date for participating in the offer.
