CHANGE TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
In compliance with rule 3.59 of the Listing Requirements of the JSE Limited, the
following information is disclosed:
Shareholders are advised that Mr MJM Figueira, one of the executive directors
representing the major shareholder, Caxia Geral de Depositos and whose contract
of employment with Mercantile terminates in 2007, will be returning to the
parent company in Portugal. Consequently Mr MJM Figueira will resign as a
director and employee of Mercantile with effect from 28 February 2007.
