TRADING STATEMENT
Truworths International Limited (`the Group`) anticipates that both basic and
headline earnings per share for the 26 week period to 24 December 2006 will be
between 32% and 38% higher than those reported for the corresponding period in
2005 and subsequently restated as a consequence of the full adoption of
International Financial Reporting Standards.
Group sale of merchandise, which includes retail and franchise sales,increased
to R2 513 million, 30% above the corresponding period in 2005. Comparable retail
sales grew by 19%, with product inflation of approximately 2%. During the period
6 Truworths, 10 Identity and 2 YDE stores were opened which increased trading
space by 5% relative to the position at 25 June 2006.
Group sale of merchandise reflected excellent growth of 33% for the second
quarter of the 2007 financial period compared to the comparable quarter in the
prior period, following a 26% increase in the first quarter of the 2007 period.
Shareholders are advised that the financial information contained in this
statement has neither been reviewed nor reported on by the external auditors,
and that the Group`s unaudited interim results are scheduled be announced on 14
February 2007.
