Sales update for the four months to 15 January 2007
Total sale of merchandise for the Group grew by 22%. Sales (excluding Incredible
Connection acquired in December 2005) grew by 11%. Hi Fi Corporation
experienced sales growth of 17% while Incredible Connection increased their
sales by 25%. The Group`s Credit Chains increased sales by a modest 6%
reflecting the higher indebtedness of the consumer and the Group`s prudent
approach towards credit granting. ABRA, our Polish operation, increased their
sales by 27% in Zloty terms and 56% in Rands.
In contrast to the previous year, both arrears and the provision for bad debts
have increased in Rand terms. However, receivable arrears as a percentage of
gross receivables stand at 7,7% compared to 8,1% at the 31 August 2006 financial
year end.
