Lonrho Africa is pleased to announce that having completed one year of re-
establishing itself through investments across Africa, the Company is
changing its name, opting for the historical moniker, "Lonrho". The name
change is subject to shareholder approval at Lonrho`s next Annual General
Meeting.
After five years of pursuing a policy of disposing of assets to pay off
debt and return value to shareholders, Lonrho Africa spent 2006
implementing its new investment strategy, concentrating on early- to mid-
stage developing projects in Africa, in resources, infrastructure, leisure
and transportation.
"Lonrho is one of the oldest names operating in Africa and is a well-known
franchise," said David Lenigas, Joint Chairman and CEO of Lonrho. "We are
re-invigorating the Company, aspiring to a return to the Lonrho of old.
"Under our new strategy, we are taking a modern approach to Africa and are
concentrating on investments that can make a positive difference to African
business and civil society," continued Mr. Lenigas.
