Old Mutual plc (the "Company") announces that on 19 January 2007 it received a
notice dated 18 January 2007 informing the Company that Barclays PLC, through
the legal entities listed below, had at 17 January 2007 a notifiable interest in
218,149,330 ordinary shares, representing 3.97% of the issued ordinary share
capital of the Company and 4.19% of the total voting rights in the Company`s
ordinary share capital.

and 6.34% of the total voting rights in the Company`s ordinary share capital.
