TRADING STATEMENT
In line with the Listings Requirements of the JSE Limited and the regulations of
the Toronto Stock Exchange, where Eastern Platinum Limited, Barplats` major
shareholder is listed, Barplats issued unaudited results for the three months to
September 2006 which reported an operating profit for the period of R9.9
million.
Barplats continued to operate profitably during its second quarter and expects
to announce earnings per share and headline earnings per share of between 6 and
7 cents for the six months ended 31 December 2006. Comparatively, due to the
impact of the application of the International Financial Reporting Standards
(IFRS) and in particular IFRS 2 which relates to the treatment of share-based
payments (in this instance relating primarily to the black economic empowerment
transaction with Gubevu Consortium Investment Holdings (Pty) Limited), Barplats
announced a loss per share and headline loss per share of 136 cents for the six
months ended 31 December 2005 (twelve months ended 30 June 2006 loss per share
of 114 cents and headline loss of 135 cents per share).
Shareholders are advised that the above information has not been reviewed or
reported on by the company`s auditors and that the company`s results for the six
months ended 31 December 2006 are expected to be released on 14 February 2007.
