Spur - market update and trading statement
Spur reported on a legal dispute with GPS Food Group RSA (Pty) Ltd., which resulted in a quantum damages award of R74.6 million, plus interest and legal costs, totalling R129.5 million. The group plans to appeal this decision within 30 days, with a final hearing scheduled for February 2027. Despite this, Spur's strong cash reserves mean its liquidity and dividend policy remain unaffected. The company expects its earnings per share (EPS) to decrease by 31% to 41%, with headline earnings per share (HEPS) falling by 34% to 43%, but adjusted HEPS is forecasted to increase by 5% to 13%. The full financial results for the year ending 30 June 2026 will be released on 20 August 2026.
